Biography
Laurie Porter is native to the Memphis area and currently resides in Arlington. She attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and completed her undergraduate training with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Memphis in 2010. She completed her medical training from the University of Memphis where she received a Master of Science in Nursing FNP-C in 2016.
Laurie has over 14 years of experience caring for patients, having served at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis prior to joining Endocrine and Diabetes Clinic in 2016. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor International Nursing Society and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Laurie is married to her husband Alex, and they have 4 children, 3 golden retrievers, and a pug. When not caring for patients, Laurie enjoys reading, working outside, traveling, and running. She faithfully accomplished “Road Warrior” status with the MRTC Road Race Series and has run in several St.Jude Memphis Marathons and Germantown Half Marathons
Laurie takes pride in providing individualized, patient centered care. She works to build open channels of communication with her patients and encourages them to do what they can and take things one day at a time. She strives to find unique ways to help her patients achieve their goals by continually learning and staying up to date on new medicines and devices on the horizon. As a patient of Laurie’s, one can expect to be provided with not only emotional support, but with exceptional care.
